Welcome to West Wilts Youth Sailing Association

All WWYSA Members and parents are invited to the

Commodore's Camping and Sailing Weekend.

DATE: Friday 25th July - Sunday 27th July 2014

VENUE: Roadford Lake, Devon (just off the A30).

This is a great sailing venue extending to over 700 acres situated on the edge of Dartmoor between Okehampton and Launceston.

Details as follows:

CAMPING: On site and next to the lake, cost is £3 (to be confirmed) per person per night. There are also facilities for camper vans and caravans (with hook up). Those requiring a pitch on this basis are advised to book ahead on 01409 211507.

CATERING: You will be responsible for your own food with a BBQ on Saturday night, please bring your own burgers, sausages etc. Subject to the numbers, Saturday lunch is likely to be a picnic somewhere by the lake. Please note there is no shop on site so you do need to bring everything with you!

ITINERARY: You are free to arrive Friday evening or Saturday morning, although we would like to get things going by 10.30am on Saturday, when there will be a formal briefing.

BOATS: You are free to bring your own boats or borrow them from WWYSA, (please book in advance). You need to collect it from Westbury on Thursday 24th July at 8.00pm. It is your responsibility to get them there and return them to West Wilts. Launch fees of £8 per boat (to be confirmed) per day will be payable. (kayaks/windfurfers and various dinghies can be hired from Roadford.) For further info visit

SAFETY: Cover will be provided at all times.

ACTIVITIES: These will be arranged (subject to the weather) on Saturday and Sunday morning. At all other times free sailing is available (subject to Roadford regulations in terms of conditions and safety cover).

SUPERVISION: Children will be supervised by WWYSA volunteers during organised events. Parents are responsible for their children at all other times. Children under 17 must be accompanied by a designated adult.

ATTENDANCE: It would be really helpful if you could confirm that you will be attending. You will find a sheet on the notice board to be completed together with details of boats/bouyancy aids that you wish to borrow. Any further questions please email me.
